Arthur Canario is a former nationally ranked Judo player and former collegiate football player. Arthur started Judo as a result of a Christmas present from his parents. Arthur would participate in the New York Yudanshakai Junior Tournament held in Prospect Park YMCA in 1965. Arthur would participate and place in the 16-year-old unlimited.〔 Arthur was coached by Hank Kraft, who described him as the original kid with two left feet.〔 At his peak, Arthur was a 6'5 220 lb heavyweight.〔 Arthur would be ranked a top 3 Judo fighter in the United States in 1971.〔 He would be the top heavyweight in the United States that year with a win in the national championships with a victory over Charles Hooks.〔 He competed in the over 93 kg division and of that years championships was held in St. Louis.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Arthur Canario, Judoka, JudoInside )〕 That year he would be elected to the US International Team. Due to problems, he was unable to represent the US at the worlds in Germany in 1971. In 2006, he would compete in the World Masters Judo Competition, scoring.
